1)  Madeira Border Tea Towel
(Hands on Class, though Students can learn the technique without a sewing machine) -- Everything these days is looking a little more elegant, a little more steeped in tradition, from clothing to home dec.  This cotton/linen Madeira border tea towel – is quick and easy to make, but it comes from an era when specialty linens were required in a well-kept home.  The Magic Madeira Scalloped Hem is a technique that is requested over and over again.  Use the technique on a dress or skirt hemline, to border a pillow edge, on a quilt, window treatments or just about any project.  A contrasting border is a lovely way to pull colors from your décor onto your crated projects.  The tea towel is made of  cotton/linen blend with a complimentary cotton/linen blend Madeira border.  The shape of the border complements the square shape of the design to create a unique hemline on the towel.  A pin stitch is used to attach the Madeira border to the towel.  The sides are hemmed with a double fold ¼ inch hem, and the remaining end is hemmed with a ¾ inch double fold hem.  All hems are topstitched in place.    Due to the length of the class time, we’ll learn the Madeira technique in this class.    In class we won’t do the embroidery, but we will do the Madeira border.

Kit cost is $30.00, and includes the embroidery design on a multi formatted cd, complete project instructions, fabric to make 3 complete towels, embroidery thread and construction thread to match the fabrics, wash away basting thread

1) Introduction to the Square in a Square Technique: (hands on sewing class)
You will learn how to use the SnS technique to create several basic quilt units, i.e., a square in a square, square in a square in a square, flying geese, and half square triangles.  In this method, no triangles are cut or sewn and you don't use paper, either.  It is a great technique that is fast, fun and accurate and you don't have to choose two out of the three.  These units make great borders for your embroidery projects!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2)  Ohio Star Tote Bag:  (hands on sewing class)
We all have old totes, or new ones, that have a logo or other writing on them and we don't care to advertise whatever it is...so, learn how to make a great quilt block that will become an outside pocket and will cover that logo.  You will learn to make an Ohio Star unit the Square in a Square way...no triangles cut or sewn!  Your kit will include a tote and pre-cut fabric necessary for making the pocket.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3)  Take Five: (hands on sewing class)
Take Five is a very quick pattern!  It consists of rectangles and squares that fit together easily.  Embroidery fits in the squares or rectangles very nicely.  We will make a small wall hanging top that you can embroidery at your leisure.  I will show you how to make a flange border and an outer border, too.  The pieces will be pre-cut so we can sew and go!!  It is possible that we will also applique a flower on our piece but I am still working on that part of the class...at any rate, you will enjoy some basic sewing and your wall hanging will be ready for you to quilt and bind.  I will help you with this part of the project although we may not get that far...especially if you want to embroider in the wall hanging.

apply crystals so that you will not loose any in the wash.  When you leave the class you will be confident that you can do it too! This class is for those that are new to the "Sparkle" World.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2)   Create Your Own Hands On Class-Part 1
Have you ever had a picture of something you wanted to create in crystals?  Or a word you wanted on a shirt to make a statement?  Well...you can do it and I will teach you a technique for creating your own designs with crystals and metals.  You will see just how easy it is when you create your own motif to completely transform a plain frame into a work of art. You will have some time in class to work on your motif but then be given time before Part 2 of the class where the motif will be applied.

3)  Create Your Own Hands On Class-Part 2
The motif we make in Part 1 can be applied in many layouts…it is all up to you but the important part is learning how to apply the crystals.  One technique does not work for everything and we will use several of them to complete your choice of designs on the picture mats.  Doing the application once will give you confidence to then do it on your own.  I will show you how to apply the motifs along with how to use the heat applicator.  You will then apply your design to your mat with me there "just in case".  We will also go over some troubleshooting techniques and we will have time for you to ask questions.
