IEC is an International Embroidery/Quilting & More Conference held in Columbus, Indiana each year since 1997.
Attending an Embroidery/Quilting Conference is very different from attending one of the Trade Shows.
Often expo classes give you the demonstration or short explanation of how to complete a project but no detailed instructions unless you go to the instructor/vendor and purchase the additional needed materials.
Expos have large machine companies behind
them with the focus on selling. IEC focus is targeted toward education with complete classroom instruction. At IEC the
classes are 1 1/2 to four hour sessions, depending on the individual class with complete instructions
provided free to the student. In a few cases at IEC, the teacher will
list a small additional kit costs for hands on sewing classes
only. The lecture, demo classes and trunk shows are no additional
cost.
You can attend
an expo and just tour the floor. When you attend IEC you get it all. You can take
classes all day every day and even in the evening. You also have the opportunity of shopping in our Vendor Mall.
An expo is a display of
wares and how to use them. IEC is a compilation of
techniques and how to do them and many times with products you already own.
We welcome anyone, from anywhere with an interest in learning more about how to make your embroidery, digitizing, sewing, or quilting projects look more professional. It doesn't matter what brand of sewing machine or software you use for you to join us at this educational, relaxing seminar and learn new techniques. Your level of knowledge does not matter.
During your stay with us, you will experience days and evenings of FUN PACKED Education, Shopping, Trunk Shows, A vendor garage sale, make lifetime friends, enjoy good food, door prizes, entertainment, and that's not all.
You do not need to be a digitizer or a quilter to attend this event. The classes at IEC are full informative type classes and not infomercials. We will have something for everyone regardless of their skill level with some lectures, demos, make it and take it project classes plus some hands on classes.

Our Charity Projects include:
1. Covers For Kids - Of Parents In Service To Our Country
For the past 9 years, we have collected crib size or lap size blankets to present to our military families for their small children when their parent is deployed. The Blanket Parade and presentation will be the Friday evening of our Conference. This gives us a chance to show off our talent and our appreciation to these men and women who are serving our country while at the same time giving support to these families who give us so much.
Anyone who cannot attend IEC but would like to donate a blanket for our charity can contact me for information to mail a your blankey. Blankets from any fabric suitable for a small child are welcome. They do not have to be quilted or have embroidery on them. Will you help us out by sending a few if you can't attend our Conference?
2. Lungs For Life Cancer Research:
Our Auction will be Friday night. It will consists of embroidery, sewing and quilting items our attendee's no longer have a need for but you might not be able to live without. A percentage of the sales from this auction will be presented to I U Medical Center's "Lungs For Life Cancer Research" program again this year. The proceeds for this Charity will be handed directly to DR Nassar Hanna with no middle person taking any administrative cut from it. The check presentation will be made in memory of my late husband Joe and my best friend Bev both of whom lost their battle to cancer just a few years ago.
Both Joe and Bev were involved from the beginning preparations of IEC and this tribute to them is a way to honor their memory for all they contributed toward the success of IEC.

Come Early Stay Late:
Many consider it a necessity to arrive a couple days early to include a short trip over to our popular nearby tourist area in Little Nashville, Indiana. While in Nashville be sure to stop in at the Carmel Corn Cottage and say "Hi to my friend Jim" and try some of that yummy flavored popcorn he sells. They also plan to a bunch of those unique little shops in Nashville, or plan a drive through our beautiful Brown County State Park when they come to IEC.
Another popular attraction is all of the unusual architecture around Columbus. Did you know Columbus, IN is known world wide for its architecture? Come to IEC check it out. You won't be sorry.
We are just a few months away from having a good time together. See you there!
